- Dr. Ouellette is available now to set up a long term
Wellness RISK Management
Directorship in Guelph businesses.
- Help your company establish a true multidimensional Wellness program.
Our Program is much more than a health care provider's narrower definition of
Wellness.
Wellness RISK
Management is not affiliated with any professions or Third Parties online or
otherwise. Creation, authorship and development are the sole ownership of Dr. Victor Jean Ouellette.
Wellness RISK Management concepts first took shape in the mid 1970s in Dr. Ouellette’s clinical practice
and expanded ever since building into a separate Wellness model in 2015 to 2020s.

Someone asked Dr. Ouellette:
Why Wellness RISK
Management?
Okay, a fair question. What I saw in the clinical field over many years while helping people manage pain and
Wellness, was a stark need people had for help in managing and maintaining Wellness. This Wellness was connected to
individual therapeutic needs at that time. However, the observation was that there was a pattern that could be
identified. Needs were common and various failures were common.
When properly motivated people would do everything asked of them by the clinician.
When in clinical crisis that is. When healing occurred quickly due to people listening and doing what they were
asked, people were very happy and they healed quickly. But, they would fall back to their old ways
and cycle once again into crisis.
The next commonality was that this repeating cycle was difficult to
break.
What was happening at their homes was setting people up for a return to pain and
disability. There was a need for ongoing help, but in the Self-Help field in their own homes. So,
I returned to the books, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, psychology, all the sciences.
In Wellness
RISK Management we are not dealing with things that need to be proven
but rather, we are dealing with things already proven and needing to be delivered. That delivery
is what we at Wellness RISK Management are all about. One might say it is the delivery of
compliance.
We are not dealing with things that need to be proven. |
These things are already proven.
Standards for multidimensional Wellness have a long science history. Getting that
science into the community on a long-term REGULAR basis is one of our business goals. First
though, we need to know what a client's individual goals are and what their needs are at the time of measurement.
Our unique Wellness RISK
Measurement program accomplishes this. We put numbers to Wellness.
After that measurement process, Wellness RISK Management Tutorial Workshops are offered. Tutorial
Workshops are where the real work takes place.
Wellness is individual and personal. One person’s Wellness needs are not
necessarily another person’s Wellness needs in spite of commonalities. However, people fall into general categories
with regard to what they need. Nutrition and Exercise are common categories most
everyone knows about already.
Knowing and doing though, are two quite different things. Workshops are needed to
get-the-doing-done.
In addition to these two pillars there are three other pillars of
Wellness.
Spinal Health
Back pain is the scourge of the human race. One cannot avoid the science
behind Spinal Health and also gain multi dimensional Wellness. We include spinal health because of the very
large costs to the community and workforce with regard to spinal issues, not to mention the tremendous emotional
costs associated with poor spinal health. In Canada, the low back pain-related estimate of the medical costs ranges
between 6 and 12 billion dollars
annually.

Therapy and Other Conservative Treatments for
Low Back Pain: A Guideline From the Canadian
Chiropractic Guideline Initiative, Journal of
Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics,

Up to 85 % of working people can expect to experience low back pain in
their lifetime. This is an astounding fact. https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9762743
One of the major things we hope to identify and
separate, is back pain that is not of low back origin but rather,
referred pain origin. You would think that would be the job of the medical profession, however, they do an
extremely poor job at this. They are great at clearly identified pathology, but not so good at digestive
related referred pain.
Rest & Relaxation
In addition to spinal Health, Rest & Relaxation, which includes sleep,
are very important to Wellness and cannot be ignored. Proper time for healing is a must. Proper time for winding
down is one key to a happy life.
Attitude &
Perspective
Closing out the five pillars of Wellness which we
call Dr. Ouellette’s Five Pillars of Optimal Health
Secrets are Attitude & Perspective in life. We all need an outlook that is positive and uplifting. We
have to fight the negative animal instincts within us and continuously bring ourselves to the human thinking end of
behaviour. There is much science in this field.
Overall
Wellness
Obtaining this overall Wellness in all five Pillars is a lifelong goal which requires
both measurement and management. We have that covered. It is just a matter of getting going at it.
In the process of measuring Wellness RISK, and putting numbers to Wellness, we found a number of important
clinical measures that can help various types of health care workers, including medical doctors. We found it
helpful to include a measurement for self-help pain relief as well.
As we have said, Wellness
RISK Management workshops are where the work gets done. We have five
workshop subdivisions in our Wellness RISK
Management model.
You just have to get going on it.
